STS Exam Information ($65 Exam Fee)

All persons registering as a sewage treatment system installer, service provider, or septage hauler shall take a test on the sewage treatment systems rules.

Effective February 1, 2023, there is a $65 fee for this exam.

During your registration, you will be requested to pay the fee via credit or debit card. Checks are not accepted.

EXAM FACTS

Open book online test with 75 questions.
CLICK HERE for a copy of the STS rules.
You will have 3 hours to take the open book test.
The test will be available through three entities: Local Health Districts, OhioTrain, and OTCO.

STS CONTINUING EDUCATION COURSE ONLINE

EXAM FACTS

In 2005, OTCO was invited to be involved with the administration of the 2006 STS Exams for the Ohio Department of Health.

In 2013, OTCO was invited again to be involved with the re-administration of the 2014 revised STS Exam for the Ohio Department of Health.

In 2020, OTCO decided to offer education on wastewater treatment that is approved by the Ohio Department of Health to meet the annual requirements for the continuing education for STS professionals.

No matter if you are an ODH STS Professional Operator or an OEPA Certified Professional Wastewater Operator, your goals are the same; to return wastewater to acceptable level to be returned back to nature:

Hauler who transports wastewater to a local OEPA permitted Wastewater Treatment Plant
Installer who installs Septic Systems or Sewage Treatment Systems
Service Providers who repair Septic Systems or Sewage Treatment Systems that discharge to nature

Exam materials - Class A Manual

STS CONTINUING EDUCATION COURSE ONLINE

On-Line Course: $90

You can take the online exam five (5) times per $90 fee. The exam can be attempted from your office, home, tablet, or smart phone.

The reference textbook is the Ohio EPA Class A Training Manual viewable via PDF above.
